Eastern Visayas celebrates 2019 Regional S&T Week Posted: Monday, August 12, 2019 PALO, Leyte, Aug. 9 -- The Department of Science and Technology-Regional Office 8 (DOST-8) will be staging the 2019 Regional Science and Technology Week (RSTW) celebration to fulfill its commitment in coordinating the countrys scientific and technological efforts toward maximum economic and social benefits.
The 2019 RSTW will be held in conjunction with the Regional Invention Contest and Exhibit 2019 (RICE 2019).
DOST-8 Regional Director Edgardo Esperancilla is inviting everyone to participate in the three-day 2019 RSTW celebration to be held at the Robinsons Place, Marasbaras, Tacloban City on August 9 to 11.
On the first day (August 9), the DOST-8 office at the Government Center, Candahug, Palo, Leyte will open its doors to the public from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.

PAGASA to parents: Brace your kids for rainy season Posted: Friday, May 31, 2019 BORONGAN CITY, May 30 (PIA) The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) in Eastern Samar has warned parents to prepare their children for the rainy season and to prioritize their safety and well-being as classes is set to open next week.
Ricardo Galupe, officer-in-charge of the PAGASA weather station in Borongan City, shared about the possible number of typhoons that will come from June until October.
"One or two in June and July, one or three in August, and two or four in the months of September and October," he said during the Oplan Balik Eskwela Convergence spearheaded by the Department of Education (DepEd) on Tuesday.
