Digital Science Libraries to be opened - DOST

Maasin City - Fourteen (14) lucky public schools in Southern Leyte will receive DOST's first science digital libraries, which aims to help young Southern Leyteño students research about Science and Technology, Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Provincial Director Florita M. Santiago said. According to Santiago, a turnover ceremony and training orientation of DOST STARBOOKS (Science and Technology Academic and Research-Based Openly Operated Kiosks) will be held this November 28 (Thursday) at the Maasin Country Lodge, Mambajao, Maasin City.  The STARBOOKS is the first science digital library in the Philippines. Mussel Pinoy Longline Kicks Off in Samar

The Industry Strategic Science and Technology (S&T) Program (ISP) for Mussels of the Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-PCAARRD) has refined the raft and longline culture methods on mussels to replace the traditional stake method of mussels. Before the S&T interventions, bamboos were used as stakes which caused siltation thereby affecting the environment. Currently, bamboo stakes are still being used in some provinces.
