San Fernando City, DOST feature EcoSep to preserve local beaches

SAN FERNANDO CITY, May 9 (PIA) -- The City Government of San Fernando in La and the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Region 1 introduced a technology developed to help keep the beaches and waters in La safe and clean. Eco-friendly Septic Tank System (EcoSep), a DOST-funded technology, was introduced to the participating local government officials, hospital managers, and beach resort owners during a Technology Forum on May 3 at the City Library, Marcos Building, this city. Queen Pineapple (QP) Bran, a feed supplement for native chickens (Image credit: Agricultural Resources Management Research Division (ARMRD), PCAARRD) Queen pineapple peels, eye trimmings, core, and pomace need not go to trash. These wastes can be processed into a feed supplement called queen pineapple (QP) Bran for native chickens.  The QP Bran provides nutrients and health benefits to native chickens similar to that of the commercial rice bran but is more affordable. A research team from the Camarines Norte State College (CNSC) produced the QP Bran through the project, "Development of Various Products from Queen Pineapple Wastes."
