DOST-X turns over check for Alubijid Empowerment

On November 6, 2017, a Ceremonial Check Turn-Over and Program Orientation was conducted at the Alubijid Municipal Hall during their Monday convocation.

The check turnover is in line with the approved Community Empowerment through Science and Technology (CEST) program assistance, via a project entitled "Enhancement of Community Health, Nutrition, Education and Upgrading of Food Processing Facility" in the amount of Php 665,440.00.

The project, which is led by the Department of Science and Technology – Region 10 (DOST-X), targets various communities in Alubijid.

In behalf of DOST-X Regional Director Alfonso P. Alamban, the check was handed by Dr. Roselyn V. Arellano, DOST Regional Coordinator on CEST Program, and Engr. Junelyn Louvena B. Ruiz, the Provincial Science and Technology Director of DOST PSTC Misamis Oriental.

Immediately after the ceremonial check turn-over was the CEST program orientation wherein the details of the various projects were discussed. To properly implement the various projects, there was a creation of the Municipal CEST Project Implementation Team with Alubijid Mayor Hon. Alvin Giovanni A. Labis as the over-all Head of the Municipal CEST Implementation Team and Ms. Jesselita Armecin as the Municipal CEST Focal Person.

CEST is a program of the DOST aiming to empower the poorest and most depressed communities through science and technology (S&T) interventions in health and nutrition, basic education, livelihood development and disaster-risk reduction. It also targets to introduce to communities the S&T interventions on water and sanitation, climate change adaptation and e-governance. (Shiela Mae N. Cabudoy, DOST Misamis Oriental)
