There's an added ability in the skillset of persons with disabilities (PWD) in the province.
The Department of Science and Technology-Negros Oriental Provincial Science and Technology Center (DOST NegOr PSTC) in cooperation with DCCCO Multipurpose Cooperative and Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) conducted the skills training on candle making at Sto. Niño Covered Court, Banilad, Dumaguete City on September 29, 2018.
Around 35 PWDs from Banilad and Calindagan organizations attended the event. The training aims to capacitate the PWDs by training them on basic candle making as well as improving the state of life through revenues accrued from the new business venture. Mr. Eric B. Ferraren, owner of J&J Candles, a SETUP-assisted firm based in Sibulan served as the resource person during the training.
After the training, the participants were able to sell numerous packs of Sperma and glass candles resulting to reasonable income.
