A total of 26 scholars under the Accelerated Science and Technology Human Resource Development Program (ASTHRDP), 30 from Engineering Research and Development for Technology (ERDT), and 176 coming from the Capacity Building Program in Science and Mathematics Education (CBPSME) all hailed from Zamboanga Peninsula and declared as graduates of Batch 2019.

DOST – Science Education Institute (SEI) has been granting scholarships for qualified Filipinos in the field of Science and Technology in pursuing graduate studies in the following programs:

 1. Accelerated Science and Technology Human Resource Development Program (ASTHRDP) aims to improve the country’s global competitiveness and capability to innovate through S&T and to accelerate the production of high-level human resources needed for research and development in basic and applied sciences and mathematics.

2. Engineering Research and Development for Technology (ERDT) aims to attain a critical mass of master’s and doctoral degree holders who can perform high-impact researches in engineering and technology that are aligned with the country’s National Science and Technology Plan (NSTP) and Medium-Term Development Program (MTDP)

3. Capacity Building Program in Science and Mathematics Education (CBPSME) intends to increase the number and improve the quality of STEM faculty members so they can be in better capacity to mold the young people to be future leaders in science and technology.

Aside from these three programs, slots were recently opened for Science professionals who wish to pursue further studies abroad through the DOST-SEI Foreign Graduate Scholarships in Specialized Priority S&T Fields. Like most scholarship programs under DOST-SEI, scholars of Foreign Graduate Scholarships are expected to return to the country and render the required service obligation upon completion of their scholarship program.
