DOST-6 encourages more research and development to foster global competitiveness

During the recent Business Innovation through Science and Technology Forum at the Seda Capitol Central in Bacolod City, Department of Science and Technology-Region VI (DOST-6) director, Engr. Rowen Gelonga, encouraged micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to invest in research and development as a means of raising global competitiveness.

“If we really aspire to become competitive not only in the local but as well as in the global market, we would like to really emphasize that research and development should be a mainstream activity of our MSMEs,” he explained.

The DOST official said the most competitive economies embrace science, technology, and innovation, noting, the government agency already assists small businesses by providing technology transfer activities, trainings, and consultancy services.
