BAGUIO CITY, Sept. 20 (PIA) - -The Department of Science and Technology in the Cordillera region (DOST-CAR) showcased science - based technologies for disaster risk reduction and management(DRRRM) in a Techno Promo Day activity at Paragon Hotel here on September 19.

A ceramic water filter that can ensure safe drinking water and safely packed ready- to - eat food during calamities were among the developed technologies that DOST highlighted.

The candle type ceramic water filtration system was developed by the DOST -Industrial Technology Development Institute (ITDI) and was adopted by the local government of Bauko, Mountain Province for production through its pottery industry. It can make accessible around 2 to 3 liters per hour of safe and potable drinking water from any available local and natural water sources even in remote areas.
