DOST starts call for R&D proposals under CRADLE program

DAVAO CITY (PIA) - The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) has announced a call for research and development proposals under its Collaborative Research and Development to Leverage Philippine Economy (CRADLE) Program.

The DOST is now ready to accept R&D proposals for 2020 from Higher Education Institutions (HEI), Research and Development Institutions (RDI) together with their partner companies for the CRADLE program. The proposals should provide solution to identified needs of the industry and meet the general criteria of the program.

The priority R &D areas and industries identified by the DOST and the Department of Trade and Industry include agri-processing industries (includes drug and herbal development), agriculture, fishesy and forestry, IC design, semi-conductor and electronics, creative industries/knowledge based services, renewable energy, industrial waste treatment, information and communication technology(includes Artificial Intelligence), infrastructure and logistics, environment and climate change and manufacturing.

The maximum funding for each proposal is P5-million for a period of to 3 years. The HEI/RDI should have at least one partner company to collaborate with. The partner company will adopt the R&D output. The partner company will provide counterpart of at least 20% of the total project cost. Counterpart may be in cash, in kind or per-hours support to the academe.

Under the CRADLE program the private sector industry will identify the problem and the HEI/RDI will undertake the R&D to solve the problem.
