MPEX involves the deployment of industry experts, productivity specialists, and other technical experts to assist Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the manufacturing sector. These consultants provide recommendations for improvement of the firms’ overall operations to achieve higher productivity.

The MPEX technical consultants and experts who mainly come from the academe and private sectors were accredited by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) through the Subject Matter Specialist Program.

The MPEX team first assesses the product design and packaging, materials used, processes and operations, machines and equipment used, plant and other facilities, layouts, production planning and control system, quality control system, overall organization, and human resource utilization.

The team then carries out an in-depth analysis of the selected productivity improvement concerns and formulates recommendations for the implementation of a firm beneficiary.

The completion of each productivity consultancy shall be six (6) months from contract signing. The six-month period comprises the one (1) month duration for the installation of recommendations. The team will submit a technical report at the end of the consultancy documenting the assessment, analysis, recommendations made, and evaluation.

Interested firms may apply directly to DOST-X or by the Provincial Science and Technology Centers (PSTCs) nearest their area. (Shevanie E. Magallanes, DOST-X)
